Click-tite Dentures Explained
At Seapoint Clinic, we offer a wide range of treatments to help you regain a glistening smile.
If you have some teeth left which require extraction and are currently considering a denture, Click-tite dentures could be the ideal choice for you. We are able to place your implants at the time of extraction, minimising the procedure time and resulting in a faster turnaround time for your final fitted dentures. We are able to make your final fitted dentures a mere two months after your Click-tite implants have been fitted. You needn't worry, you'll never be left without teeth at any time throughout the healing process. With Click-tite dentures, the jawbone around your implants will be maintained, ensuring you continue to enjoy a strong jawbone and dental security. By doing so, this will greatly reduce any possible negative facial profile changes that can occur without implants.
Benefits of Click-tite Dentures
The best way to correctly secure dentures is by placing several anchors in the jaw, which are then attached to the denture. Obviously, the more implants placed, the more secure the attachment. We can easily strengthen or decrease the amount of retention for you to make them strong enough but maintaining they remain comfortable and easy to remove when need be. While you will remove them in order to clean them. they will not embarrass you at any time.
With Click-tite implants, eating any food is possible as they make the denture much more secure so that there is minimal movement. They will also help preserve the jaw bone in order to help stop the facial profile collapse. The VHI will make a contribution to the cost of these in the lower jaw if you have no remaining teeth and struggle with dentures. They are also tax deductible. If you still have teeth which require extracting, it is possible to place these implants at the same time as the extraction is performed, making the entire procedure much easier. At a later stage if you decide you would rather fixed teeth, it is usually possible to upgrade the implants to provide fixed teeth. This would not be possible with mini implants as they are too small to support the additional forces.
What Are Mini Implants?
At Seapoint Clinic, we use the most gentle type of micro implant available. Although it can't provide the same strength as Click-tit dentures, it can provide a huge improvement for people compared with denture pastes and glues. Placed with minimal discomfort, stitches or bleeding, the procedure can be completed in one visit. The innovative mini implants are placed in a keyhole fashion through the gum and are easily placed and suitable for anyone who is missing all their teeth. The implants will allow minimal movement of the denture but are fa more retentive and healthy for your jaw as opposed to pastes. This method provides an excellent alternative to loose dentures as they are far more secure and will preserve your jawbone and facial features.
Consisting of a miniature titanium implant, the micro implant will act like the root of your tooth and an O-ring that is incorporated into the base of your denture. This means your denture is much more stable and will prevent it from moving or coming out when you talk or eat. The small amount of movement means the denture won't come loose but makes it easier to remove. By using these mini implants, you can enjoy all sorts of foods once again such as apples, steak and even chewing gum.
“Being able to get up in a morning and brush my teeth while they’re still in my mouth is amazing. I go everywhere smiling.”
Pauline, Dublin
Is the micro dental implant safe?
Yes. Mini implants are regularly placed in people of advanced age because of the gentle process involved in placing them. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved micro dental implants as a long-term item.
When can micro implants be used?
In some cases, micro implants have been known to successfully function in patients jaws for decades. In the past several years, some clinicians have started using micro implants for single tooth replacements in crown and bridge cases. However, we only use them for making dentures more stable where they have been found to enjoy the highest success rate.
What is the primary use for micro dental implants?
We find the most effective use of this unique dental product is by securing a lower denture. This means we can use micro implants to stabilise a denture within a few hours with the patient leaving the clinic with a stabilised and comfortable denture.
How can micro dental implants help denture wearers?
Micro implants are easily placed in a straightforward and painless procedure, meaning it only requires a mild local anaesthetic. The micro implants, the size of a small wooden toothpick, are placed about 5 millimetres apart. We then adjust the patients denture carefully to allow it to clip onto the four micro implants. This results in a tight fitting, yet comfortable and reliable system that enables the patient to speak and eat with renewed confidence. The entire process takes a mere hour and because of the unique and minimally invasive procedure, the minute size of the implants and where they are placed, an average patient could enjoy a light meal the very same day. With little practice, the patient can easily remove and replace the denture easily, all the while maintaining good dental hygiene.
How much do micro dental implants cost?
Depending on the size, number and complexity of the case, the cost can vary. If you have insurance, you may be entitled to get the treatment completely free of charge. Micro implants tend to cost less than regular implants and are an inexpensive way to secure a denture.
Why should I get micro implants done at Seapoint Clinic?

How do these micro implants help with bone preservation, socket grafting & ridge preservation?
Once a tooth is extracted, there is a small hole left in the bone. Often, the bone may have been damaged by infection before the loss of the tooth and can become thin or even have a hole present in it. If we allow the socket to heal naturally, there will be bone loss in the area afterwards. The exact amount can vary depending on the situation and patient.
Following an appropriate healing time, dental implants should be placed to preserve the bone in the long term. If you are not planning on getting implants done, a socket graft may still be worthwhile. We use some bone fillers which can reduce reabsorption of the bone and so will keep the bone profile for use under a bridge. Socket grafts are a gentle way of preserving the bone and should be carried out when a tooth is due to be extracted. If you are uncertain whether or not you are a suitable candidate for a socket graft, be sure to raise any questions you may have with your implant dentist.
