Why Dental Implants Are So Successful?
What Are Dental Implants?
The first question you may ask yourself is what exactly are dental implants?
Dental implants are man made roots which are gently placed in the bone in a small surgical procedure. Dental implants are nearly all made of titanium which has been tried and tested as a material for many decades. It is used because it is bio-compatible and very strong. That means that it is generally accepted by the body and not rejected as some materials are.
Dental implants are now a tried and tested method of tooth replacement and they have been in regular use for over 50 years. The design and type of implant has been improved over time and now they are highly predictable.
All the staff were just lovely and I was treated so well throughout my whole experience. By the end I didn’t even need any sedation!

Why Are Dental Implants So Successful?
Dental implants are typically 97% successful, when placed by an expert, in good quality foundations. If taken care of, just like natural teeth, they can last a lifetime. We have discovered a process of tricking your body into accepting a dental implant. Your body believes that the surface of the implant is a part of your bone and it fuses with it. This fusing process is called osseointegration and it is a healthy and living process.
Over time, your body and the dental implant will begin to act as one. The connection responds to stimulation and this changes over time.Think of the connection like a muscle in your body. With normal function a muscle will stay healthy and strong. With overload, it can be damaged.
Dental implants respond to the normal everyday chewing function by getting stronger and stronger over time, similar to the building up of a muscle. If someone abuses a dental implant by grinding on it, crushing ice or nuts, it also can be damaged just as a normal tooth can be. If you are someone who grinds or clenches their jaw in their sleep, your dentist may recommend you to wear a night-guard while you sleep to prevent any damage to the implants.
Nowadays when I walk into a room, I walk in smiling. I'm not afraid to smile anymore.
