Suitable for dental implants?

Suitable for dental implants?

Anyone who is missing teeth due to injury, cracked teeth, decay or disease could benefit from dental implant treatment.

Whether you’re looking to replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth or all your teeth, there are usually dental implant solutions to suit everyone and every situation.

It is important for an implant dentist to carefully examine your whole mouth to check the general health of your mouth and gums and assess your general medical history to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for dental implants. An ideal candidate for tooth implants would be someone with a good level of general health, no active gum disease, and sufficient bone to hold the implant in place.

If you have little bone in your jaw to hold the implant, bone grating can be done. We've treated many patients who have been told previously they are unsuitable for implants due to bone loss.

Your implant dentist will often be able to tell if dental implants are a suitable option for you after an initial consultation.

It is essential that after having dental implants you have regular visits to one of our dental hygienists to ensure that the implants are successful and you are thorough with your own oral hygiene. Regular brushing and flossing of the teeth and gums is essential for healthy, long-lasting dental implants.

It is likely that you are a suitable candidate for dental implants if you answer yes to one or more of the following questions:

For those missing single or multiple teeth

  • Have you lost one or more teeth?
  • Are you considering replacing the tooth/teeth with a bridge, but are worried about compromising more of your teeth?
  • Have you lost bone in an area where a tooth was extracted?

For denture wearers

  • Are your dentures becoming loose?
  • Do you want a better option than a full/partial denture?
  • Do you want to secure your denture?
  • Do you get mouth sores from wearing your denture?
  • Are you using denture pastes to secure your denture?
  • Are you noticing any changes (premature aging) in your facial appearance?

For single or multiple missing teeth, crowns or bridges supported by one or more dental implant could offer an excellent, long-lasting and comfortable solution for you.

Dental implants can be especially effective for denture wearer as they can help support and retain dentures. This allows you to eat, talk and laugh comfortably without the worry of your denture becoming loose.

Dental implants can allow you to have fixed or removable teeth and will allow you to taste your food as the roof of your mouth will be free from the plate associated with traditional dentures.
