Difference Between Porcelain & Composite Veneers

Difference Between Porcelain & Composite Veneers

Here at Seapoint Clinic, we provide two types of veneer - porcelain and composite, otherwise known as Instant Veneers. The difference between the two can be explained quite simply as time and budget.

Porcelain Veneers

Our porcelain veneers are expertly handcrafted by skilled technicians in Da Vinci Studios, California. We use a very fine but sturdy layer of porcelain, which is then placed over the damaged natural surface of your tooth. By doing so, we not only strengthen your teeth we also improve the overall aesthetics of your smile. Seapoint Clinic is among the most popular choices when it comes to porcelain veneers in Ireland.

Before you have your porcelain veneers fitted, we will arrange a smile simulation in our in-clinic Digital Smile Design Studio, where we can show you exactly how your smile will look before treatment even begins. This allows you to have final say on the shape, size and colour of your veneers.

Instant veneers is a great treatment because it can be done in just one visit. There's no drilling of your natural teeth, no need for numbing and it gives really lovely results.

Instant Veneers

Instant Veneers

Unlike porcelain veneers, instant veneers don't require any preparation of your natural tooth, unless of course you decide to opt for whitening beforehand. Following your initial consultation, your cosmetic dentist handcrafts your composite veneers while you sit in the chair. This means treatment time can last as little as one hour, making this treatment incredibly fast. On average, instant veneers last around 3 years with proper care whereas porcelain veneers can last anywhere between 10-15 years.
