Teeth Whitening Available at Seapoint Clinic
Teeth whitening is the ideal choice to regain that sparkling smile, without the need to have the shape or position of your teeth altered. It's amazing how much a small amount of whitening can make to your overall smile and confidence. However, some people aren't quite sure what to expect when it comes to teeth whitening. Is it expensive, will there be any discomfort and what to do following your treatment?
Although there are cheap over-the-counter variants widely available, they simply cannot provide the same pearly white smile that in-clinic teeth whitening is known for. At Seapoint Clinic, we have our own in-clinic whitening suite, which means you can get a sparkling smile in comfort, as you sit back and relax. What's even better is that you can notice a difference to your smile in as little as a single 45 minute session! Obviously, this will vary person to person and can depend on just how well you look after your dental health.
Just how long will my results last?
Habits such as drinking red wine, eating staining foods such as curries and smoking will greatly affect the overall results. On average, results can last 1 year depending on what and how much you consume. For people who smoke, we recommend purchasing home whitening trays as well as attending regular hygiene appointments to help maintain your brightness.
Will I feel any discomfort?
Some patients may experience some slight sensitivity after whitening, however this is perfectly normal. This tends to only occur towards the end of treatment and using Sensodyne toothpaste can help reduce any sensitive sensations. We advise patients that may be feeling anxious to consider taking some gentle painkillers before your treatment, but any sensation tends to fade a few hours after treatment.
How will I know if I should get teeth whitening?
It's true that teeth whitening can be more effective on so people than others. However, we can determine whether you are a suitable candidate for teeth whitening with a quick and simple exam, in which we can assess your teeth shade. This can even be done the same day as your whitening treatment, meaning less travelling for you.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Teeth whitening is perfectly safe. Many dentists consider teeth whitening to be the safest form of cosmetic treatment. However, we do not perform whitening on patients under the age of 18, pregnant or lactating women. Only in certain rare circumstances can we perform whitening on children over the age of 13 for discoloured teeth, something which will depend entirely on your dentists opinion.
What's the main difference between shop bought and in-clinic whitening treatments?
By consulting a dental professional first, you can be guided towards what whitening treatment would suit you best, something which won't happen with over-the-counter equivalents. Whereas shop bought whitening strips, gels and toothpastes may take weeks or even months to slightly whiten your teeth, in-clinic whitening can leave you with a noticeably brighter smile in a mere 45 minute session.
