Most dental experts agree that the vast majority of us are not brushing our teeth correctly. The idea of a artificial intelligence toothbrush may seem a bit 'Big Brother', but Oral B's new Genius X toothbrush promises to revolutionise how we go about our daily oral hygiene routine. Coupled with the Genius X app, we discovered that on average most people scored just below the pass rate of 40%, meaning the majority of patients are actually brushing their teeth incorrectly and have done for quite some time. 

Following your normal brushing routine, the app gives you an average score on how well you did, pressure applied, focal points and how long you brushed for. As you can see above, one side had far too much pressure applied as well as not spending enough time brushing. In order to improve your score, you have to use the on-screen guidance which advises you on areas you should focus on and for how long.

As you improve your brushing technique, the red areas will slowly turn blue, allowing you to move onto the next area of your mouth, all of which is shown in real time. The app even holds a record of your brushing routines and how often you brush, allowing you to see how your technique is improving on a daily basis. Within a week, we noticed patients increase their score from 26% to 54% - above the passing grade.
