I am just off the phone with a dentist who worked for a few years in a Hungarian Dental Tourism Clinic. What he told me shocked me but didn’t surprise me…

Tooth Damage

They hack away your teeth unnecessarily… When you are there for a week or less you are getting a crown no matter what. When a more conservative treatment would be an onlay or inlay you still get a crown. Who cares you might say? You should.. Your dentist should take time to choose the right restoration to keep your teeth for the longest time. If you just “crown everything” you will probably end up losing them sooner than you should… That means future dentures, implants or just gaps!!

Pressure

You have flown over and are expecting to get treatment done so you will be getting that no matter what. If your gums are bleeding or there is infection they will still go ahead because that is how they make money. Do you really want to put in a high pressure environment to choose your oral health…?

Extra tooth loss

Guess what you are there for a week and they don’t want to ever see you again… If you come back it affects their operating efficiency. That means any tooth that they have concerns about gets taken out there and then… No waiting to see if it settles down. The tooth is given no chance and it means you end up losing teeth unnecessarily.

Pretend Savings

They will present you with comparison prices of the most expensive clinics as if that is a fair comparison. There are many clinics with a range of different prices, which they never tell you about. If price is really the most important thing for you check prices locally before you travel. At least you are less likely to have unnecessary treatment and they will probably be there for you if things go wrong.
