Dental Implants
Many people have lost teeth due to impact injuries, sporting injuries and gum disease. These people may only be missing a tooth or two so they would never think of the possibility of wearing a full denture in the future. Dental implants offer an alternative to both full denture wearers and those missing just a few teeth.
Dental implants have been used for many years and are now considered the premium solution for a loose denture or to replace one or several missing teeth. Dental Implants are so natural and tooth-like that most people won’t even realise that you are wearing them. The science behind dental implants is quite simple. A small titanium screw is placed into the bone where the tooth used to lie and is given a few months to heal so the bone can fuse with the implant. Once this healing has taken place, the crown or ‘tooth’ is placed on top. This tooth is now capable of supporting the pressure of chewing as it has been secured into the jaw and your own mouth acts as though this is a new tooth.
Some people feel they can ‘make do’ without a particular tooth, particularly if they only have one tooth missing. However, they often don’t realise that they have adjusted the way they talk, eat and even smile to account for the missing tooth. Dental implants are an opportunity to replace the missing tooth and to regain your confidence and your old smile!
Dental implants even offer advantages for people who normally wear dentures. Dentures work by attaching themselves to the gum through a form of suction. Denture wearers often complain that this suction hold is not good enough and they can have difficulty with certain foods or in tense speaking situations. Dental implants come in many forms and Seapoint Clinic we offer two procedures to secure a loose denture; our “Mini-Dental Implants” and our “Click-tite Dentures”. The dentures are attached and clicked into place with the rod that has been placed into the bone. This gives your dentures a much more secure hold.
For many people their teeth are a huge concern, and various issues throughout life may have left them feeling less confident about their smile, such as stained or broken or uneven teeth. Dental implants are now a viable option for the thousands of people who suffer from tooth loss or for those who are suffering from advanced gum disease or those who have a loose denture. Dental Implants offer people a much more secure bite and a beautiful confident smile.
