As a mother, Carmel had always put her children before herself. She had long been worried about her teeth and would often avoid many social situations.

"When I won your competition earlier this year I had but one wish - to smile at my son's wedding.

“We had such a wonderful time at the wedding and I actually enjoyed having all the photos taken as my confidence has soared since the treatment. Carmel won a smile makeover through our completion on TV3 earlier this year; she wanted a smile that she could show off at her son’s wedding.

With her son getting married, she was terrified that she would ruin the wedding photos and wanted nothing more than to smile at her son’s wedding and show pride instead of embarrassing.

She’d already faced the embarrassing moment when her tooth crumbled in her mouth at her son’s graduation.

It had been years since Carmel had been brave enough to eat an apple through fear of losing any more of her delicate teeth.

There were some tears of joy in the clinic when we received this photo of a beaming Carmel with her son on his special day.
